Anyone over the age of 50 qualifies to reside in a Trans 50 village. Our services and facilities are geared for totally independent residential living, assisted living through home care and frail care.

All Trans 50 villages are managed by qualified and experienced managers, who lead a team of experts in their job function. In this, the managers are ably supported and assisted by a management committee, elected by the residents of each village.

Our employees participate in in-house training and ongoing development programmes to ensure that their skills are honed to perfection. Our residents can attest to our emphasis on integrity and world class customer service.

We strive to make each resident’s stay exceptional. For this reason, all our programmes are designed in conjunction with a multi-disciplinary team under the guidance of experts in gerontology. Residents are free to choose if they wish to participate in our life enrichment programmes and consultative processes.

The services we offer include:

  • Wellness programme  –  tailored to individual needs

    One of the ways in which we provide quality, customised care, is by assessing the specific needs of each individual, at the outset of our relationship. From this assessment, we are able to advise and guide residents in the development of their own tailormade wellness programme, focusing on their own individuality.

    The Trans 50 team believes that an holistic, balanced life is essential for optimal health. Therefore, our focus integrates the five dimensions of wellbeing   -   social, emotional, spiritual, physical and intellectual   -   into all services and levels of care. This wellness philosophy greatly benefits all our stakeholders.

  • Lifestyle enrichment programmes

    These programmes are led by our Lifestyle Consultants. Activities and events range from seminars to biokinetics and Gym Trim, to discovering and developing new creative skills, and jaunts to interesting places.
     
    Our physically and mentally frail residents have a tailormade programme to assist with their special needs. This includes sensory stimulation, eye-hand coordination, exercises and much more.

  • Fun for everyone

    Each community has a range of social groups to participate in and the monthly ‘Events & Activities Calendar’ calendar will keep your diary filled with fun.

  • Sporting activities

    We offer a range of sporting activities such as bowling, Jukskei, darts and snooker.

  • Religious services

    Of utmost convenience for our residents, church services from various denominations are held at the villages, every Sunday.

  • A safe and secure environment

    Each village has controlled access and around-the-clock security, performed by trained guards.

  • Property and garden maintenance

    A major benefit of buying into a Trans 50 village is that we retain the responsibility for the ongoing maintenance of all communal buildings, as well as the exterior of your home.

    We also tend the gardens to provide year-round pleasure to our residents, employees and visitors.

  • Catering  

    Our catering facility offers three, nutritionally balanced meals per day, served either in the dining room or in your own cottage or flat. Residents are welcome to order meals on an ad hoc basis, to suit their lifestyle.

  • Courtesy transportation

    Each village offers convenient transportation to and from local shopping complexes and local doctors' consulting rooms.

  • Health care

    Professionally qualified clinic staff are on duty 24 hours per day to assist with activities of daily living and health monitoring, such as blood pressure or blood sugar measurements. Our staff are trained to assist with and manage medical emergencies. Our residents enjoy peace of mind knowing that nursing assistance is always just the press of a button away.

  • Home care

    We offer home care for those who need some degree of assisted living but who prefer the comfort of their own cottage or flat.

    We respect the fact that people want to remain independent for as long as possible and encourage our residents to do just that!  Our skilled team consults with the resident to assess and understand his / her needs and wishes.  In consultation with the multi-disciplinary team, a care plan is compiled for the resident to fulfil his/her needs. This service allows our residents to age with dignity.

  • Frail care

    With the exception of Jakaranda Park, each Trans 50 village offers an exceptional frail care facility, equipped to cater for both physically and mentally frail residents, in a caring environment with individually designed mental and physical care and stimulation programmes.

    Our philosophy is to plan our care to suit the needs of the individual. Unlike many other care facilities, we do not let our care regime dictate to the residents.

    We aim to provide a safe environment for our residents and employees. We create a homely atmosphere where family and friends are always welcome, with no restriction on visiting time.

    Even mentally or physically frail individuals are still capable of achievement. In our frail care, we encourage ongoing participation in activities that give each individual freedom of choice and independence for as long as possible. Our residents are free to age with dignity and respect.

  • Medication management programmes

    We help to take the risk and confusion out of medication administration.

    Where necessary, our professional staff will assist the resident with the taking of medication or manage the administration thereof.

    Our skilled staff monitor the individual’s reaction to medication and are pro-active in identifying possible problems or complications. This ensures the resident’s optimal and ongoing well-being.

  • Regular and ongoing communication methods

    Residents and employees of all the villages contribute to a newsletter which is published by Trans 50 every quarter, and distributed to every village. Examples of past newsletters are available on this website, in the ‘News and information’ section.

  • Convenience facilities

    For the convenience of our residents, we offer the following on site:
